A teen pulled unconscious from a Sydney pool is fighting for life in hospital, a day after another teen drowned at a popular swimming basin.
Lifeguards and passers-by pulled the 17-year-old boy from a public pool in Prairiewood about 3.15pm on Thursday, and started CPR.
Paramedics then rushed the teen to Liverpool Hospital in a critical condition.
The incident comes a day after a 15-year-old boy drowned at Kentlyn Basin, near Campbelltown. His body was found by police divers after a two-and-a-half hour search on Wednesday evening.
The boy had been jumping into the water with three other teens when he failed to resurface.
NSW Ambulance Inspector Dylan Snape said the incidents are a tragic reminder of the need to be vigilant around water.
"With hot weather expected across the state from tomorrow, it's vital we remain vigilant to the potential dangers around water," he said.
"It only takes a few seconds for anyone to get themselves into serious trouble."
