LATEST COVID-19 DEVELOPMENTS:

* Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said she wants remote mining camps to host all international arrivals into Australia, after a cluster of the deadly UK coronavirus strain emerged in a Brisbane hotel. But the plan appears dead in the water after key state premiers opposed it.

* Queensland authorities are confident they have found every person a cleaner and her partner had contact with last week while contagious, but are still trying to contact the 250 people who completed quarantine at the Hotel Grand Chancellor after December 30.

* Two travellers to South Australia are in quarantine after spending time at the Brisbane hotel.

* Victoria will resume its return to work schedule and relax mask rules after going eight consecutive days without a new local or interstate coronavirus case.

* Ten people in NSW who stayed at the Hotel Grand Chancellor in Brisbane are in quarantine.

* Almost 30 per cent of mandated NSW businesses have not yet implemented the Service NSW QR code check-in system.

* Six West Australians who stayed at the Hotel Grand Chancellor are self-isolating in Perth but have tested negative to COVID-19.

AUSTRALIAN CORONAVIRUS NUMBERS:

* There were 10 new virus cases recorded in Australia on Thursday: four in Queensland, and two each in NSW, WA and the NT. All were recorded in hotel quarantine.

* The national death toll is 909: Victoria 820, NSW 56, Tasmania 13, WA 9, Queensland 6, SA 4, ACT 3. (Two Queensland residents who died in NSW have been included in the official tolls of both states).

GLOBAL CORONAVIRUS NUMBERS:

* Cases: at least 92,348,000

* Deaths: at least 1,978,000

* Recovered: at least 50,994,000.
