Showbags a'go'go: SYdney Royal Easter and Ekka bags are available even though the shows won't go on.

Just like its Sydney counterpart, the Royal Easter Show, the 2020 Ekka has been canned.

The decision, in line with all mass public gatherings during the coronavirus pandemic, was made official yesterday. But all is not lost.

Producers are likely to be offered the chance to be involved in a modified competitions while the other show must-have - showbags - are available online, too.

It's not quite the same as that "I-see-it, I-want-it" impulse in real life but there are dozens of options for disappointed kids.

Who's to know now, but you would've thought the Bluey bag (complete with activity set, backpack, bucket hat, cooler bag, dress-up eyebrows, stickers, sunglasses and more for $30) would've rocketed to the top of must-have lists.

Dora the Explorer ($30, much like the above but includes stick-on earring, too), Harry Potter Charms ($30, includes duffle bag, glasses and tattoos) and Stranger Things ($30, t-shirt transfer, shoelaces, and a cap and socks included) were tipped to be popular, too.

Expected to top the list for the more budget-conscious showbag-buyer were: Cadbury Crunchie ($5), Monster 100 IN 1 ($10), Smiths Super Snack Bag ($10), Zappo ($5) and Dinosaur ($6).

But really, for the nostalgic parent, who could go past the Bertie Beetle showbag? Imagine 80 Bertie Beetle chocolates...

You can check out more showbags online here, here and here.

And while it's unlikely to count as "essential shopping", if you're in one of Woolworths 200-plus stores, you'll find some of the showbags that would've made the 2020 Sydney Royal Easter Show on for sale.
