On Thursday March 5 SRCWA held the LiveLighter Avon Aged Care Games, to provide an opportunity for people in 'care' situations to experience team participation and light competition
The day was a great success with 12 teams coming together from Brookton, Dowerin, Goomalling, York, Northam and as far away as Moora.
Games included seated hockey, seated pass ball, bean bag toss and skittles.
President of the Shire of Northam Cr Chris Antonio, opened the games, and local singer Caitlin Morris performed the National Anthem.
Entertainment during the lunch break was provided by Jim and Jenny's Country.
Seventy-eight year old speed skater Alan Eades amazed all with a demonstration of his sport In-Line Skating.
Phil Paddon, MC for the day then called the teams to the playing area and encouraged everyone to have a good time.
The winners of the Northam LiveLighter Aged Care Games were; first: Cunderdin WAGS 353 points, second: All Stars York 333 points and third: Goomalling Twilight Club 313 points.
The Best Presented Team was York All Stars teams combined and the oldest competitor was Moora Mavericks' Roma Leers at 97 years young.
