Volunteering in the Wheatbelt region was in the spotlight throughout 2019, following a decision to no longer hold the fortnightly Northam Farmer's Markets and not launch a community cinema due to a lack of volunteers.
As a result, the Avon Valley and Wheatbelt Advocate launched an investigative series exploring into the topic.
