Do you know someone who is a champion of multiculturalism in Regional WA?
Perhaps you know about an initiative that promotes social cohesion and cultural diversity?
Agriculture Region MP Laurie Graham is encouraging you to nominate these people for recognition in the Western Australian Multicultural Awards 2020.
The awards acknowledge individuals, organisations and businesses who have made a positive contribution to multiculturalism in Western Australia.
They also recognise outstanding contributions made by people and organisations who promote and strengthen regional multicultural communities.
Nominations for the Multicultural Awards 2020 can be made across eight categories including Outstanding Individual Achievement Award and Multicultural Youth Award.
Nomination are due on Monday January 20, 2020.
Citizenship and multicultural interests minister Paul Papalia said the awards would be part of Harmony Week.
"Behind Western Australia's dynamic multicultural society is an army of people who volunteer their time and expertise in community groups, support programs and events," he said.
"There are businesses who understand and harness the benefits of cultural diversity and there are everyday Western Australians from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, who bring their cultures and faiths to enhance and enrich our state for everyone. "
Mr Graham encouraged people from across country WA to submit nominations.
"We have many vibrant multicultural communities in regional WA with individuals and organisations doing some amazing work," he said.
"Let's get behind all our local achievements and nominate a deserving multicultural group, program or event today."
