Investigators are returning to the scene of a house fire on Hutt Street in Northam, that caused an estimated $300,000 damage.
The incident was reported to authorities just before 1.30pm on Tuesday near the intersection of Mudalla Way.
The caller reported black smoke coming from the roof of the house.
It is believed no one was home at the time.
Parts of Hutt Street were closed for several hours and neighbouring Avon Vale Primary School was evacuated.
Crews from the Northam Volunteer Fire and Rescue Service and Toodyay Volunteer Fire and Rescue Service were in attendance.
Investigators will return to the scene for a second day.
