Parts of Hutt Street in Northam have been closed for motorists as emergency services attend a house fire.
The incident was reported to authorities just before 1.30pm on Tuesday near the intersection of Mudalla Way.
The caller reported black smoke coming from the roof of the house.
It is believed no one was home at the time.
Parts of the road are closed included the drop off zone of Avon Vale Primary School.
A statement from the school said students had been evacuated.
"Parents, no need to panic all students safe and accounted for," the statement read.
"We have had to evacuate the building due to a fire at a neighbouring house.
"All student are in the offsite kindy and can be collected immediately.
"Please avoid Hutt Street."
Crews from the Northam Volunteer Fire and Rescue Service and Toodyay are currently at the scene.
Police are also on the scene managing traffic.
