On the back of the success of Fresh Start Recovery Programme's first public client graduation in July, which saw the celebration of 11 graduates, the community is again invited to witness the success of the next cohort.
The theme of 'Recovery in Community' will be highlighted yet again, celebrating the positive contributions the Northam community make, not only to Fresh Start, but to disadvantaged and marginalised groups also living in Northam.
Fresh Start Northam Recovery Centre general manager David Gunter said community attendance was an important part of recovery for the rehabilitation centre's clients.
"At our last graduation, the residents were so overwhelmed at the attendance and kind support of the Northam community who joined in on celebrating their recovery journey," he said.
"Having the wider Northam community on board to join in on our clients recovery journeys assists them to feel accepted and connected."
Mr Gunter said the theme of 'Recovery in Community' fit in with recent national awareness days.
"We have just celebrated in the last several months Homelessness Week, Mental Health Week, Child Protection Week and RU OK? Day," he said.
"It's important to recognise that recovery isn't just specific to alcohol and other drugs residential rehab.
"We have everyday people living in the Northam community who are in recovery from various range of issues, both physical and social, including mental health, disabilities, domestic violence, homelessness and trauma.
"We hope that our graduation brings awareness to the community about people living in recovery and the importance that community plays in the healing process.
"We heal in community, not isolation."
The second public graduation will be held at Bridgeley Community Centre on October 28 at 6.30pm.
Light refreshments will be served to attending guests beforehand.
