A local fundraising group has raised the highest amount of funds for Daffodil Day in the state. The Burracoppin Daffodil Day event, held on August 23, raised over $8500 towards funding cancer research, the highest fundraiser for the cause in WA.
A total of $168,000 was raised in the month of August across WA for Daffodil Day.
The Burracoppin Daffodil Committee held its annual event at the Burracoppin Sports Pavilion with raffles, stalls and entertainment.
Wheatbelt education officer Melissa Pickering congratulated the committee, event supporters and people behind the scenes.
"Cancer Council works across every aspect of cancer, but we rely on the generosity of community donations at events like the Burracoppin Daffodil Day to help fund our work," she said.
"Thanks to investment in research over many years, amazing advancements have been made in cancer prevention, screening and treatment."
