On the first Saturday of each month, the Lions Community Markets fly the club's flags and welcome the Northam and surrounding communities to visit the market place in Bernard Park.
This month was no different with 55 stall holders enjoying the beautiful sunshine and engaging with those who visited to purchase the array of market goodies that are on display.
If you were fortunate to be one of the many who attended Bernard Park on market day, you would of seen our amazing volunteers from St John Ambulance displaying and advertising St John's Stroke Awareness Week.
Two dedicated volunteers, Anna Maden, who has been volunteering with St John's for seven years, and Lyn Butler, who also has volunteered her precious time for the past 18 years, were demonstrating to the public the importance of being aware and recognising the signs of stroke.
If you recognise the signs of stroke you need to act fast, look for facial weakness, arm weakness, and speech difficulty.
Northam and surrounding areas are fortunate to have St John Ambulance volunteers serving our community.
Anna and Lyn attend numerous duties within our town and remind everyone that if an emergency ever arises, always call triple zero for an ambulance.
Northam Lions Club thank the St John Volunteers who continuously attend every market and partake and speak with the public with a chance that someone may take interest in learning about, and becoming a St John volunteer.
Northam Lions Club have recently raised funds and with the aid of St John Ambulance have purchased a defibrillator, which is now placed at the Northam RSL Sub Branch on Fitzgerald Street.
Northam Lions Markets celebrated their sixth year of Markets this September and thank the Northam and surrounding communities for their ongoing attendance.
