Careers expo to help local employment

A free career expo featuring about 40 employers will be hosted in Northam next week.

Career Directions, which is funded and delivered by Directions Workforce Solutions, returns for 2019 next Wednesday.

Exhibitors from a wide variety of industries as well as training providers and employment services will be on hand to provide local jobseekers and school students the opportunity to engage directly with employers, explore their options and identify pathways to their chosen career.

The event will be held at the Northam Recreation Centre on Wednesday, September 11 from 10am to 2pm.

Representatives from the Australian Defence Force, Water Corporation, Western Power, Virgin Australia, Wheatbelt Health Network, Careers in Grain and the Australian Institute of Fitness will be present.

Industries represented will include banking and finance, community services, public administration, agriculture, retail, travel, construction, and more.

Career Directions will feature exhibitors from the major universities and TAFE as well as information on apprenticeships and traineeships, and general careers information from Jobs & Skills Centre.

Bookings for the Northam event are available on the Eventbrite website or www.directionswa.com.au.
