Toodyay Bowling Club will soon be operating on a new surface, funded with assistance from an Australian Government Community Sport Infrastructure Grant.
Club president Gordon Scott said the project was in line with the Sports Commission's vision for Australia to become the world's most active nation.
"Uou might think bowls is a sedentary sport, but that's not the way we do it," he said.
"Seriously, it was our goal to upgrade our ten-year-old surface and introduce bowls to a wider audience- we provide coaching and practice to students from Toodyay District High School- they have energy to burn and they are our next generation of players.
"We were very pleased that Pearce MP Christian Porter came out to Toodyay in July and met with us."
The club was successful with a $130,000 "Move-it AUS" grant for minor capital works, with the new rink installed to World Bowls Board standards by Berry Bowling Systems of Victoria.
The club also had great support from the Shire of Toodyay.
Local sport infrastructure plays a critical role in keeping communities healthy, active and connected.
It has the capacity to provide benefits beyond sport, as a place for communities to gather, create connections and develop networks.
The rink will be ready for pennant play at the beginning of the season.
