I have worked in the Wheatbelt for the last five years.
I have two children who keep me very busy - I have a teenage daughter and an 11 year old son. My daughter plays AFL football and my son loves riding his bike.
I drive into Northam from the hills everyday - I really enjoy the drive in every morning - its gives me time to think and get my mind ready for work. I listen to many podcasts in the car from news to psychology, and I love bingeing on true crime.
My family came to Australia when I was nine-years-old from Toronto in Canada. I worked really hard to loose my accent to fit into school. My parents were originally from England but wanted a life change, moved to Canada, then Australia.
My father is still in Western Australia and my mum has settled in France.
My younger sister is an emergency doctor at one of the big hospitals in Sydney.
I went to school in Perth and studied -harmacy at Curtin University.
I love my animals, at home I have a labradoodle, Ruby and three cats - Gus (who is very polite, the mature gentleman), Yoshi (quirky black cat, very friendly at times) and Odin (young, full of mischief and naughtiness).
I have played violin in since I was two-and-a-half - I didn't touch it for years after I studied TEE Music at school. In the last few years I have started jamming with a some friends as part of a folk band - it's been great to dust off the cobwebs.
I enjoy drawing birds, but rarely find enough time - I'm quiet artistic and creative, I guess I a big picture person , a right brain thinker. I also love spending a lot of time in the garden - I like landscaping and reinventing new spaces. It's my happy place.
I am a brown belt in Goju-Ryu Karate - I have been doing it for two-and-a-half years - I train three times a week. I find it brilliant. It's that mind body soul connection. For me - it is about being present in the moment. I really like kata - there is something about being exact. I also enjoy sparring. This is something I wanted to do for myself. Its peaceful. Its uses inspiration from Tai Chi and Judo. Apart from karate I am terrible at sports. All enthusiasm but no skill.
I have been a pharmacist for 20 years, working all over the state. I love Northam and have really settled in here - the people are amazing. I have always enjoyed working in the country. I enjoy being part of the community. I really like working with the older people, the stories they have are amazing to listen to.
Being a pharmacist, I get a chance to make a difference to people's lives, and its really fulfilling. I find it an honour to be working with palliative care patients - its a special and incredibly important time to be able to help and do your part to make life as easy as possible to give families the time for the important things.
The best moments of life so far have been having my kids. They are amazing. This was also one of the hardest moments as I suffered quite significant post-natal depression. I knew something was wrong with how I was thinking and my doctor helped me. It has been a long journey of getting anxiety and depression under control. I am quite philosophical about it now.
Life just happens - there are ups and downs - and there is not much you can do with it but go with the flow. I try not to get too bogged down in bad stuff and take what you can from it.My advice to a younger me would be: never underestimate the wisdom of the elderly.
Older people have a perspective of life which is very different to the young. Wisdom and life experience is valuable. The most inspiring people in my life are my two best friends - they are remarkable women who have been through incredible challenges in life. They are survivors and so am I.
