In an effort to reduce the number of deaths of regional WA roads, the Road Safety Council has invited residents of the Shire of Moora and surrounding areas to register for a community forum to discuss the future of road safety.
The Council has prepared the Imagine Zero Consultation Paper which is designed to spark robust conversation about the direction road safety could take beyond the end of the State's current road safety strategy, Towards Zero 2008-2020.
This consultation paper provides drivers, pedestrians, cyclists and motorcyclists with information on WA's road safety journey so far, how we compare to other world leading jurisdictions and our vision for the future.
Road Safety Council chairman Iain Cameron said the forum on August 5 was at the request of the Road Safety Minister.
"Many countries around the world are aiming for zero and we need to know what you are prepared to support for WA to pursue the same goal," Mr Cameron said.
"Your feedback is vital and will assist the Road Safety Council in preparing a draft road safety strategy for the Minister for Road Safety to consider."
In 2018, 159 people died on Western Australian roads, with 25 of those lives lost in the Wheatbelt Police District.
In 2019 nine people have died due to road trauma in the Wheatbelt Police District.
