I live in Kalannie which is in the Shire of Dalwallinu.
I have lived there since I came home from boarding school in 1987. I am a wheat and sheep farmer. I met my wife through my best friend dating her best friend. We met at an INXS concert when we were both in Mandarah on holidays.
Marrying Sally in New Norcia was one of the greatest moments of my life.
We have three children - Olly, Zac and Ruby.
My kids went to Kalannie primary school which is a little school between 40-50 kids. Ollie is now 20, Zac is 17 and Ruby is 11.
Ruby will head to boarding school next year. We put a lot of effort into making sure they are socially, academically and physically ready to be away from home for boarding school.
My dad has been farming his whole life and my grandfather and his brother cleared the land in the 1920's. I certainly had a choice about what I wanted to do with my career - I studied accounting - then chose to go back to the farm. I like numbers and figures. I keep good records but farming in my passion.
I have enjoyed been involved in the Kalannie Football and tennis clubs both playing and then coaching. Sally also played and coached the Kalannie Netball Club. We have had various roles such as President, Secretary and Members.
I sit on the Board of the Regional Biosecurity Group. We control dogs that attack sheep. The dogs attack for fun - you can loose a lot of sheep in a night. Its cruel to the sheep.
The worst moment of my life has been when Sally was really sick it was horrible and scary. It was a close call. The drive to Perth was terrible - she was in so much pain.
My advice would be channel your job to something you want to do. If you go to work everyday and work is a happy place then that makes the rest of your life happy.
