Last Saturday's competition at the Northam Golf Club was a two-person ambrose event sponsored by MJW Airconditioning and Refrigeration.
The real trick to winning a two-person ambrose competition is to find the right partner, someone who is consistent and won't three putt under pressure.
Club captain Bob Allert was lucky to find a partner after hitting his practice partner Ralph in the head with a wayward shot during the week.
Steve Dinka would have preferred playing with Ralph, however, the vet deemed him out of the competition with concussion, leaving Dinka to partner with the erratic Allert.
The pair took a while to settle in, with five pars and a birdie on the front nine giving them a score of two over the card, 38 at the turn.
The second nine they excelled, Allert avoiding taking out his partner and landing some great chips.
Dinka as always steady with the putter, the dynamic duo having five pars and three birdies to end the day with 72 off-the-stick.
The Dinka/Allert combination were too good for the field winning the day with a nett 63.5, beating the unlucky pair of Kevin Smith and Michael Speciale with a nett 64.
