A good field of players were out on the Northam golf course last Saturday to contest the Alan's Auto Electrics and Airconditioning Trophy, a par event.
Par is the perfect event for an auto electrician to sponsor as it involves scoring positives and negatives, with the highest positive score being declared the winner.
As the field of players dispersed some were surging ahead amassing points, while others were flat, looking for a good shot to jump start their game.
One player who is always well grounded is Peter 'Richo' Richards, a player who this year has found good form.
Richo started well, without a blemish on his card until the par 4 no. 8, a couple of poor shots giving him his first minus and finishing the first nine holes with a +2.
The next nine holes started well with several pluses, however as he felt the winner's spotlight on him, the lights went out, his swing short-circuited, his putts fizzled. Richo wiped three of the last four holes to finish with a score of plus 2 hanging on to win the day on a countback from Peter Beazley.
