A woman in her 60s has been taken to hospital with smoke inhalation following a house fire in the early hours of Thursday morning.
The fire, at a property on Gairdner Street in Northam, was reported by the owner just after 3am.
Two crews from the Northam Volunteer Fire and Rescue Service and two from the Toodyay Volunteer Fire and Rescue Service were in attendance.
The fire was contained but fully engulfed at around 3.30am.
A Department of Fire and Emergency Services spokesperson said it is believed the fire originated in a rear room of the property but the cause is not yet known.
There is an estimated damage bill of $300,000.
A woman in her 60s was able to get out of the house safely with her dog but was taken to Northam Hospital with smoke inhalation.
There were no other occupants.
Department of Fire and Emergency Services investigators are expected to attend the property today to determine the cause of the fire.
