A group of sporting teams from six Wheatbelt towns have rallied together to raise more than $8,000 for Breast Cancer Care WA.
The Central Wheatlbelt Winter Sports League, made up teams from Koorda, Bencubbin, Kalannie, Mukinbudin, Nungarin and Beacon, play a round robin competition for their local netball, ladies hockey and football teams.
Each year a Purple Bra round is held to raise funds for the breast cancer support charity, with this year's event held on Saturday, May 11.
Central Wheatlbelt Winter Sports League executive Sally Putt said the initiative has been driven by a hard working team of community volunteers.
"Each year the League coordinate a Purple Bra Round in our fixtures, where the home clubs for that day are required to run fundraising events for to raise money," she said.
"We don't set any expectations on what they do, just ask that they get involved and support this great cause.
"The volunteers really take it on themselves and have small organising committees to coordinate the fundraising activities.
"This year our hosting towns were Beacon, Nungarin and Kalannie.
"They all got local businesses to sponsor prizes or donate goods and run silent auctions or raffles.
"Beacon run a fabulous ladies afternoon event while watching the football which had a beautiful grazing table created by the volunteers along with glasses of champagne to indulge in while looking and bidding on all the great products in the silent auction."
A Breast Cancer Care WA spokesperson said the fundraising total of $8045.20 was an incredible contribution.
"It's a phenomenal sum, and we'd like to thank the community for their support," the spokesperson said.
This year marks the 17th IGA Purple Bra Day on Friday, June 21 with groups encouraged to hold events throughout the month.
In 2019 more than 1700 women and a handful of men will be diagnosed with breast cancer in WA.
