A Northam sibling duo have their sights set on this year's NAB AFL Under 18 Championships, both looking to make a name for themselves for potential AFL drafting.
Emma and Nathan O'Driscoll have become the poster girl and boy for grassroots football in the Avon.
Nathan was just six years old when he started playing the sport, and the now 17-year-old is often named by football fans as one to watch.
Last year the Nathan played in the under 16s state championships and this year hopes to be named in the under 18s team.
"Recently we had two trial games and if we played well there we would be playing in the carnival," he said.
"Hopefully I played well enough to be named.
"The carnival starts on June 8 and we play four games over four weeks.
"Basically if you play well you will get drafted to the AFL at the end of the year.
"Because I am 17 I can't get drafted and I don't even know if I'll be playing yet.
"The team gets announced in the coming week. Fingers crossed for that."
Nathan credits himself for his sister's transition from netball into AFLW.
"I actually old Emma to move over to football," he said.
"I told her the fan base and money for AFLW is rising so you might as well make the move while the opportunity is open.
"My mates always joke about how she is better than me."
Emma, who is studying her first year of physiotherapy at Curtin University, started playing football last year.
"I went to country week for Northam Senior High School in year 12 and played a week of footy and thought it was really fun," she said.
"I got a state invitation from a scout that was there and I thought I'd give it a crack."
Emma now plays WAFLW for Swan Districts and has been given a second AFL draft chance, being named as an overage player for the under 18s state side.
"If you don't get drafted, which I didn't expect to do since it was my first year of football, they give you a second chance to come in a play in the tournament again," she said.
"The goal is to get picked up in this year's draft.
"The boys draft process drags out a bit.
"Nathan has been playing since he was six and is just waiting until he is old enough to get drafted, whereas the girls start playing a lot later."
The 19-year-old said the siblings often get compared now that they play the same sport, but are very different to each other on the field.
"Our playing style is very different and I think it also shows in our personalities," Emma said.
"Nathan is very relaxed and I am very uptight and stressed out.
"He's a very smart footballer.
"My nickname Emma 'Crash and Bash' O'Driscoll - I'm that person who runs through the pack.
"Nathan is smart and knows were the ball is going to go."
