Heading into their second game of the 2019 home and away season, the Northam Railways Football Club and Federals Football Club are looking to take home the local derby win.
Reigning league premiers the Railways started their season with a loss to Keller/Tammin by 12 points, with hometown rivals the Federals sitting on top of the ladder following a 90-point win against Cunderdin.
The Railways recorded convincing wins against the Federals during their derby meets last year, coming away as victors by 43 points in round three and by 36 points in round 12.
Both reserves sides have more to prove in the grand final derby re-match, which saw the Federals take home the cup by 32 points.
Over the 2018 home and away season the Railways reserve team won the round three match by 16 points, with the Federals responding in round 12 with a 27-point win.
Federals league players Dylan Nelson, Luke Tanner and Brett Eades will prove vital for the side, kicking 12 goals between them last week against Cunderdin.
The Railways showed promise in players Jordon Kickett (three goals) and Christopher Holmes (two goals).
Railways league coach Nathan Deblecourt said he is looking forward to the weekend's game.
"It is always good heading into a derby," he said.
"We will know a bit more about how we tracking after the result of the game."
The senior player and coach said last week's loss was disappointing but he was confident his side can redeem themselves.
"There were a few good signs there," Deblecourt said.
"It was mainly basic skill errors and a lack of fitness that let us down.
"Jordon Kickett had a great game with three goals. He is showing great signs as a 17-year-old."
Deblecourt, who kicked a goal last weekend, said the Railways will be keeping an eye on Federals forward Daniel Murray.
"He is a good foot taller than our guys," he said.
"He is one to watch."
Speaking to the Avon Valley Advocate during the pre-season, Federals league coach Alistair Smith said the side would be looking for redemption in 2019, off the back of an unsuccessful finals campaign.
"We were relying a bit too much on our talent," he said.
"We had a very, very talented side last year on paper so it goes to show it's what you produce on the field.
"It's a funny thing; when you win a premiership you think you can let your hair down a bit, but we're going onto three or four years since we have won one, so we need to get that hunger back."
Bounce down for the Northam grudge match is at 2.15pm on Sunday at Henry Street Oval.
