The Northam Over 60s have thanked the Shire of Northam for their generosity following the awarding of a successful grant to purchase ergonomic chairs for their members.

The group, who meet weekly at the Northam RSL for a two course meal and entertainment, were successful in receiving a $750 grant.

Northam Over 60s treasurer Cathy Smith said the chairs have already been put to good use.

"We found that we needed some chairs that had handles to help get people out of chairs," she said.

"We are overwhelmed with appreciation for grant which has improved the mobility and comfort of members."

Mrs Smith said the not-for-profit boasts a list of 35 members.

She said the group recently attended the LiveLighter Aged Care Games at the Northam Recreation Centre and are looking forward to another year filled with bus trips and performances from local singers and dancers.
