PLANS are underway to collect memoirs from people who experienced the Meckering Earthquake back on October 14, 1968.
Last year the Wheatbelt town marked 50 years since the devastating event that destroyed most of the buildings in the town and measured 6.9 on the Richter scale.
One of the people who lived through the event, Alice Snooke, said with most of the people not getting any younger, there was a push to collect as many memories of the event now as possible.
Ms Snooke said they wanted to hear from people who most likely have left the area but were living in Meckering at the time.
They will be interviewed for a special publication she is working on.
"We need as many people as possible," Ms Snooke said.
"The more people who come forward, the more successful it will be."
Ms Snooke said reflecting on an event that occurred more than 50 years ago meant a lot of people who were there had passed away.
