Northam Railways Football Club launched season 2019 with a well attended guernsey presentation and dinner last Friday evening.
The league team is out to defend their 2018 premiership, and the reserves to go one better after being defeated in the grand final.
President Con deBlecourt welcomed the hundred strong crowd, asking for their continued support, and would welcome any help around the club to assist with the many tasks involved in running a football club.
The Dukes Inn is the main sponsor this year; a venue Railways players and supporters are looking forward to enjoying.
League coach, Nathan deBlecourt, his first term in the role, announced the likely line up for the season opener this Saturday, April 14, against Kellerberrin/Tammin.
This is a 3pm fixture at Kellerberrin, which will finish in twilight under lights at the oval.
The league team has retained most of the players from last year and look set to be a strong force again this year.
Reserves coach, Terry Bell, also a first time coach at the senior level, introduced a young and enthusiastic team.
It was pleasing to see so many new faces and Terry is confident of them improving as the season progresses.
Railways train each Wednesday and Friday at Northam Oval, commencing at 5.45pm.
It was evident at training and at the function, that there is a tremendous team spirit at the club, lots fun, and a determination to be serious contenders for the 2019 premiership.
