With the Christmas break now done and dusted it was time to get the new 2019 Northam Running Club season started.

The first run back traditionally is the 'One-Lap, hot lap' around the river. A distance of 2.1 kilometres.

With a few regulars having other commitments with other sports and school just coming back, the club had a good turn out with 16 starters lining up to get the season underway.

At the front it was new runner Ken Cotter who lead the way to finish first in a solid time of 8 minutes: 25 seconds.

Troy Robertson did enough to claim second place in 8.53, just ahead of Brett Willmott third in 8.56 and Lachie Willmott fourth, who still just can’t quite pip his dad, finishing in 9.01.

The dynamic duo team of Lloyd and Walt Reidy came through fifth, just off the pace in 9.08.

Amber Cunningham was sixth in 10.34 and the first female across the line.

Aaron Clements continued on from last year's to get seventh in 11.17, Maria Matres eighth in 11.51, Enrika Grogan ninth and Kiara Willmott 10th rounded out the top 10.

The next meet will be this Thursday, February 28 and will be a 5.45pm start. The start will again be at the Northam Visitors Centre with distances on offer being 5km and 2.5km.

All runners and walkers welcome. For more information find Northam Running Club on Facebook or contact 0417 920 986.
