St Josephs vs Bakers Hill: This week’s game quite different from last week. Bakers won the toss and elected to bowl.
St Joes were very strong scoring a total of 171. Aiden O’Driscoll topped scored with 38, with Tyson O’Driscoll finishing his innings on 34, Jarrod Williamson, Ryan Williamson and Cooper Brown all finishing with one wicket each off their 3 overs. Bakers Hill were all out for 26 off 17.3 overs with Ryan Williamson scoring 4, Kane O’Driscoll taking 3 wickets for 2 runs off 2.3 overs, Kohen Romasz with 2 for 5 off 2 overs Travis Schelfhout, Aiden O’Driscoll, Pacey Knipe and Loch MacTaggart all finishing 1 wicket each off their 2 overs.
Ballardong vs Renegades: It was the first game of T20 for the Renegades players and their second game on a synthetic pitch, Jubilee Oval. Ballardong won the toss and chose to bowl first.
Renegades lost early wickets cheaply. Jorjia McLellan steadied the ship and was retired after facing her allocated balls. Evan Clements was looking in good form at the crease with McLellan, but also got out cheaply on seven by a poorly timed shot which was caught by M. Boyce. Max Smith coming in at number 6 topped scored for Renegades with 19 not out. Smith was hitting the ball hard but only managed to get one four in his innings. After two more wickets it looked like Renegades wouldn’t bat out the 20 overs. Jaxon Austin Burns was the final batsman and between him, Smith and McLellan (returning to the crease for a short while after retiring) they finished out the innings for Renegades. Austin Burns finished with a 17 not out including a couple of fours, but was lucky with Ballardong dropping catches a couple of times. Renegades finished with a total of 7/83.
Ballardong opening batsmen, K. Stack and J. Narrier, started well and both were retired after facing their maximum deliveries. C. Boyce looked like he was going to make a few with minimal dot balls before he was bowled for 5. The next batsman, I. Narkle was top scorer for Ballardong with 17 retired not out and had only a handful of dot balls against his name. Matty Narrier also faced all his allocated balls and was retired not out. Noah Lewis was the next wicket. The balls remaining were lowering faster than the runs needed for the win. Two more wickets fell before the last remaining over. Ballardong closed their innings at 4/66. Best Ballardong: I. Narkle 17 not out; I. Narkle 2/3; M. Boyce 1/6. Best Renegades: M. Smith 19 not out; J. Austin Burns 17 not out; J. Austin Burns 1/2; J. Pallette 1/3.
