A police traffic stop in Wooroloo, south-west of Northam, has led police to the discovery of sea containers allegedly jam-packed with drugs, weapons, and stolen property.
On February 4, police stopped a vehicle along Great Eastern Highway and identified the driver as a person of interest to Kalgoorlie Detectives.
Detectives were on the hunt for the man as part of their operation targeting the supply of illegal drugs and suppliers and receivers of stolen property in their district.
During the traffic stop, the police officers allegedly located and seized cash, pepper spray a taser torch and about 482 grams of methylamphetamine.
Further inquiries by Kalgoorlie Detectives resulted in a search warrant being executed at a property on Bulong Road in Kanowna on February 11.
During that raid police located and seized two sea containers.
They allegedly contained two handguns, a modified rifle and shotgun, roughly 300 rounds of ammunition, three suspected stolen generators valued around $40,000, a 1000 litre diesel fuel tank and pump on suspected stolen trailer, drug paraphernalia and a stolen Toyota Landcruiser.
A 45-year-old Kalgoorlie man has been arrested and charged in relation to the incidents.
- He is due to appear before the Perth Magistrates Court on February 19 charged with:
- Five counts of Possessing Stolen or Unlawfully Obtained Property
- Four counts of Unlicensed Person Came into Possession of Three or more Firearms
- One count of Unlicensed Person Possess Ammunition.
Police will continue to investigate.
