I live in Toodyay - Rugged Hills - on about 15 hectares of bush. We have been there for 18 years and been in Toodyay for 23 years. It is my home. We have a dog and cat.
We have raised two girls who did most of their schooling in Toodyay. They are all grown up now and I now have a grandson.
My hobbies in Toodyay include line dancing and pottery. I love reading books - a wide variety of authors. I do like crime more than anything. These days I will give anything a go - there are so many great books out there.
It’s a really friendly community. Lots of people to have a chat to around the place.
I’m involved in organising the Toodyay Music Fest. The other festivals that are a must-see are the Moondyne Festival and Christmas street party. I also try to get to the local monthly farmers markets.
I have worked for the Toodyay Shire on and off for 10 years - both the Toodyay Library and Toodyay Visitor Centre.
I worked at the Christmas shop, Christmas 360 for a few years. I left in 2016 when I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. I took some time off to get myself back on track. I have been doing casual bits and pieces around the place since - returning to the Toodyay Visitors Centre as a casual about 12 months. In Nov last year I was given a permanent position as Team Leader.
I found quite a lot of support in Toodyay during my saddest health moments. It was a testing time but I got though it and its all good.
I did a sky dive last year to raise money for Breast Cancer Care WA. That was an exhilarating time in my life. I absolutely loved it & am grateful to everyone who sponsored me to help such a great cause.
I really enjoy working at the Visitors Centre - there is such a wonderful mix of people visiting Toodyay. They say it’s such a lovely town. I like to give them the information they need to really enjoy it.
My advice would be 'you never know what's around the corner - make the most of everyday'.
