Seniors are invited to connect over coffee and cake when Silver Chain’s Toodyay Social Centre throws open its doors at a special event next week.
People from Toodyay and the surrounding areas are invited to an open day on Tuesday, where staff and volunteers will share details of the services and activities on offer.
The social centre provides a comfortable, home-like setting where seniors over the age of 65 can socialise, relax and have fun.
Clients enjoy activities including arts and crafts, days out and visits from guest speakers as part of a specially-designed program.
A dementia-friendly environment allows visitors to enjoy music boxes, puzzle solving and support to practice skills.
Care team leader Melanie Bernasconi said she is excited to welcome people to the Toodyay Social Centre.
“Our clients enjoy hobbies, play games and develop friendships and spend time in the garden,” she said.
“We also plan days out, go to concerts and plays and have guest speakers and partnerships with the local community.
“The program is designed to cater to individual needs while improving the happiness and quality of life of our clients.
“If you live in the Wheatbelt come on down to our open day, and join us for some coffee, cake and a chat.”
The open day takes place on Tuesday, February 12 from 10am to 2pm at the Toodyay Community Centre at 79 Stirling Terrace.
