The library is alive with the sound of music.
In an effort to bring more life to the Northam Library during extended open times, manager Kim Colbourne has brought together a group of musicians to use the space.
The librarian, who is married to passionate Welsh musician Peter, joined forces with local Irish dance teacher Lyn Johnson to create a space where those interested in traditional music can play and dance.
Mrs Colbourne said the music sessions cater for those of different skill levels who enjoy folk tunes.
“The sessions are open to every skill level and practically any instrument,” she said.
“It's about enjoying music together as a community rather than rehearsing as a band.
“I’d encourage anyone who has ever wanted to learn an instrument, already plays an instrument or wants to come and listen, to join in.”
The group meets every Thursday from 4.30pm at the Northam Library with the prospect of additional ‘jam sessions’ on the cards.
