The Shire of Northam council has granted a development approval for the construction of KFC on East Street.
During a council meeting at Quellington Hall on Wednesday, November 21 councillors voted unanimously in favour of the development.

As part of the approval developers have to adhere to 23 conditions including commencing works withing two years, operating between 7am and 10pm and submitting a detailed landscaping plan.
The development comprises of 23 car parking bays and a dual lane drive-thru.
During the public consultation phase the Shire of Northam notified 81 nearby resident of the proposal and received eight submissions from the public; four in support and four against the proposal.
Concerns raised in the submissions were primarily health related.
