A truck fire in Wundowie overnight, suspected to be caused by brake pads has needed 30 firefighters to control and contain the blaze.
The fire was reported at 9.21pm on Monday, November 19 near the intersection of Great Eastern Highway and Wariin Road.
Thirty volunteer Fire and Rescue Service and Bush Fire Service firefighters were in attendance to the truck on fire and a scrub fire on the side of the road.
The blaze was under control by 11.32pm.
The Department of Fire and Emergency Services said there is an estimated $500,000 damage to the truck and parts of the road.
The Department of Environment and Regulation Pollution Response Unit provided technical support to DFES.
WA Police, Main Roads and Western Power also assisted at the scene.
A warning was released by DFES for smoke impacting residents in Bodeguero Way, El Coballo Lifestyle Village and surrounding areas.
Great Eastern Highway was closed between Linley Valley Road and Chedaring Road and this morning Main Roads has advised that the stretch of road is open in a single lane under traffic management.
The speed limit is reduced to 60km/h.
Clean up crews are expected to be at the scene at 9am.
