The owner of a Wundowie kennel has been left with back injuries following an assault that saw her pinned between a car and a gate, the Northam Magistrates Court has heard.
Alena Elen Allford pleaded guilty to criminal damage and assault occasioning bodily harm when she appeared in Northam Magistrates Court on Monday, November 19.
About 9am on July 9, Allford was at Hawke View Kennels, where her dog had been boarding for 19 days without payment.
She attended the kennel without notice with four of her children to ‘spend time with her dog’.
The owner of the kennel refused the group entry to the kennel before the mother and her children ran towards their car with the dog.
The victim stood in front of the gate of the property in an attempt to stop them, but the BMW drove towards the victim and pinned her to the gate.
The car moved slightly to the left where the victim was able to slide out of the way.
The car continued through the gate before departing the property.
Magistrate Jennifer Hawkins said she was appalled by the Allford’s actions.
“The gate damage indicated speed,” she said.
Allford’s lawyer Jack Trainor said it was his understanding that the vehicle was travelling 10km/h.
A note was presented to the court from the doctor of the victim outlining her ongoing lower back pain.
Allford is due to appear before the Northam Magistrates Court on Monday, December 17 for sentencing.
Her bail was extended.
