The Shire of Northam RoadWise Committee has been selected as a finalist in the 2018 Local Government Road Safety Awards for its ongoing campaign #AvonLocalsDrivingChange.
#AvonLocalsDrivingChange is a media campaign that works with local licensed premises and emergency services putting local faces and comments to road safety.
Topics have included ‘Hey M8 the TXT can W8’ and the recent ‘Drug driving is never OK.’
Northam RoadWise Committee said results are showing a significant engagement of the community.
They said they will continue to promote ‘Towards Zero’; WA’s road safety strategy with campaigns for and by local people in the Avon Valley.
The Local Government Road Safety Awards – a joint initiative by WALGA’s RoadWise and the Institute of Public Works Engineering Australasia seek to acknowledge outstanding achievements by Local Governments in the area of local road safety partnerships and champions.
The winners of the Awards will be announced at the WA Transport and Roads Forum on Tuesday 16th October at the Crown Casino, Perth.
