The Shire of Northam is looking for community groups to put their hands up to fundraise at the new Northam Telethon Community Cinemas set to launch in summer 2018/19.
The initiative raises funds not only for Telethon but also local organisations.
To enable the program to run volunteers are needed to cover the operations of the evening screenings which are primarily planned for Thursday to Sunday evenings between December 20 and March 3.
Both groups and individuals are asked to volunteer to make the community cinemas initiative possible, and appropriate groups are able to fundraise for their group by volunteering their time.
All groups and individuals expression of interest will be considered.
Volunteers are not required to be Northam residents and there is a variety of roles available.
The Shire is also actively seeking financial sponsorship for this initiative from interested parties.
A range of sponsorship opportunities are available and the Shire would like to hear form any local or regional business or organisation that is interested.
”This is an exciting new initiative for the Shire of Northam with the potential to provide some good benefits to community groups in the Shire of Northam, whilst also raise funds for Telethon,” said the Shire of Northam chief executive Jason Whiteaker.
“Unfortunately a programme like this cannot run without the support from the community, so it is crucial that the Shire manage to recruit the numbers of people required to effectively run the cinemas.
“It’s also a great opportunity to see some great latest release movies along the way.”
