Sunday saw Railways Fast Tart’s knock York Joeys out of the preliminary final to secure a place in the grand final in Tammin on September 9, against 2017 premiers Cunderdin.
After a slow start Katie Leeder and Madison Hunter’s guidance to steady Fast Tart’s in the centre court enabled them to get into their game plan and saw them kick strong to be one goal ahead at the first turn. Meg Thompson and Dakota Narrier soon got their eye in in attack and Tyler Mahoney and Kate Swenson gained the upper hand in defence and Fast Tart’s came out in front at the half-time break.
Fifteen-year-old Ashlee Annels was then brought into goal attack and this had an instant effect on the game. Ashlee showed skills beyond her years with the support of the whole team. What a talent she’s going to be in future years. Kiya Jacobsen again played a whole game in wide defence and was strong all game, with consist pressure forcing turn overs by York Joeys. Bring on the grand final!
Final score: Fast Tarts 54-26 York Joeys.
