Last Saturday at the Northam Golf Club, a good field of players were present to contest a par event sponsored by Peter “Richo” and Wendy Richards at Northam & District Glass.
The course is in pristine condition therefore good scores and close competition was expected.
Terry Lawler, scrounger captain and well known “lefty” on the course was playing exceptionally well, obviously hoping to win Richo’s trophy who is another well known “lefty” at the Club.
Despite always facing the ball on the wrong side, Lawler was not phased by this impediment and took to the course with vigour, paring holes 6 and 9 before hitting a slump at hole 10.
The 10th hole is Lawlers nemesis with the buggy shed usually blocking his normal route to the pin.
A short slump in form from holes 10 to 12 did not deter Lawler who recovered well to par holes 15 and 18 to come in with a score of plus 4 to win the day.
Runner-up with a good score of plus 3 was Cameron Stewart who defeated Bob Allert, also with a plus 3, on a countback.
