An Australian-first initiative that will empower more than 3,000 young women will be making its way to Quairading.
Country to Canberra is driving over 25,000km between May and August to run ‘Project Empower’, an award- winning program that promotes leadership and gender equality to teenage girls across rural Australia.
CEO Hannah Wandel says the not-for-profit organisation is excited to spend the next three weeks in WA to run the free, innovative program.
“Incredibly, we will be reaching over 500 young women in Western Australian high schools alone,” Ms Wandel said.
“Project Empower builds self-confidence, educates about diversity and provides leadership training. We want to ensure no matter where you’re from or what gender you are; you have the tools to succeed.
“We love Western Australia, so are really looking forward to discussing important issues with local students.”
Ms Wandel said the response to Project Empower has been breathtaking.
“Earlier this year, we received dozens of expressions of interest from Western Australians asking us to come and run Project Empower in their region. It shows that people are crying out for programs like this in the bush.”
In WA, Project Empower is visiting schools and community groups in Kalgoorlie (16 July), Narembeen (17 July), Mount Barker (18 July), Manjimup (19 July), Busselton (20 July), Harvey (20 July), Bunbury (23 July), Quairading (24 July), Cunderdin (24 July), Moora (25 July), Karratha (27 July), Broome (1 August).
