The Rural Ambassador Award 2018 is currently underway with the Central Districts judging taking place in Toodyay on Saturday 7th July 2018.
Members of the Toodyay Agricultural Society hosted this year’s event at the Newcastle Gaol Museum and Shearing Shed complex.
Contestants were interviewed by a judging panel consisting of Dr Katherine Bowen, John Bird and Frances Gartrell.
The judges were impressed with the high calibre of the four contestants.
All towns in the Central Districts were represented this year with Sarah Britza from Beverley Agricultural Society, Laura Nairns from Northam Agricultural Society, Mitchell Collins from York Agricultural Society and Edward Ludemann from Toodyay Agricultural Society.
The judges, contestants, family and friends and members of the four agricultural societies were treated to afternoon tea provided by the Toodyay Agricultural Society followed by presentation of each contestant with the winner announced as Mitchell Collins from the York Agricultural Society.
Mitchell will now represent Central Districts in the State judging to be held in Perth on the 24th and 25th August 2018.
The Rural Ambassador Award is a National Competition aimed at young adults who have a passion for living and working in rural communities and a willingness to promote what they are about.
