It was a clash of the two Northam teams, with both games a classic "8-pointer". Railways Reserves needed a win to stay top of the ladder and the League had to win to stay in touch of the top two.
In the Ressys it was a good contest all day with many past and present League players on show, with no better dual than Glen de Blecourt coming up against his brother-in-law Kane Robinson. Sugar finished with 2 goals and was a good focal point up forward and Glenny was clearly the Bomber’s best. After a tight first half Feddies led by 13 points going into the Premiership quarter, but an inaccurate Bombers outfit kicked 2.7 to Feds 2 straight to trail by 6 points at the last change. The last quarter was a one-way affair with Feddies kicking away to win by 27 points: FFC 11.9-75 – RFC 6.12-48. Jamie McPherson was outstanding for the victors kicking 4 goals and Bailey O’Driscoll kept up his good form kicking 4 for Railways.
The League contest was predicted to be a tight affair with many saying Feddies in a tight one, and at quarter-time it was looking ominous for the Bombers, Feds leading 3.3 to 1.1. Tyrone Garlett got Railways off to a good start in the second kicking the first goal, but Feddies got the next 3 through Leeson (2) and Forrest (1) to give Feds a 4-goal lead. Railways were turning the ball over constantly and playing awful football and the signs were not looking good, but through the leadership of de Blecourt off half back, and strong running from Morris, Caccetta and Wynne in the midfield the game started to turn. Hunter and McInnes started presenting and contesting up forward kicking three goals between them. Then after Wynne converted Railways kicked 4 unanswered goals to only trail by 2 points with 6 minutes to go. Tyrone Garlett finished the quarter kicking his second for the term to take a 4-point lead into half-time: RFC 7.4 (46) – FFC 6.6 (42). The third quarter was tight tussle with both teams going goal for goal and after 6 lead changes it took a courageous act from James Morton to take the lead to over 2 goals. With no regard for his own safety Morty ran back with the flight of the ball, narrow missing oncoming traffic, took the mark to play on and kick Railways 4th goal of the quarter to take momentum and a handy 15-point lead into the last quarter. Mitchell Price kicked an early goal to stretch the lead to over 3 goals for the Bombers and then up stepped young gun Jordon Kickett. Jordy kicked 4 last quarter goals and was unstoppable up forward. Harry McInnes also kicked his third for the day which saw Railways run out comfortable 36-point victors. RFC 17.13 (115) – FFC 12.7 (79). Railways major goal scorers: Kickett 4, Garlett and McInness 3 each, Morton 2.
