A Goomalling woman who threw rocks at her neighbour’s Homes West unit, after learning of the death of a family member, has been sentenced to an eight-month supervision order.
Jasmine Rose Jones pleaded guilty to criminal damage when she appeared in Northam Magistrates Court on Monday, 25 June.
Jones was walking home at 10.35pm on 13 February when she found out a family member had died.
She picked up some rocks and threw them at the bedroom window of a neighbouring unit in her complex, causing $2,500 damage.
Jones’ lawyer Sylvia Crombie said her client was very intoxicated at the time and had been taking drugs.
Magistrate Jennifer Hawkins said the offence was too serious for a fine.
“You have lots of issues you need to work on,” she said.
“You can go to jail for this and you’ve been to jail before.
“You had no good reason to do this and there is no doubt this was very frightening for the victims.
“This is not the way to go about dealing with grief.”
Jones was sentenced to an eight-month community based order and supervision program.
