Hardy souls go nude for record Dark Mofo swim

More than 1500 people have braved the early morning Hobart chill for the annual Dark Mofo nude winter solstice swim - a festival record.

With the air temperature around seven degrees, the hardy swimmers dropped their towels and ran into the River Derwent on Friday when the sun rose at 7.42am.

The crowd of 1537 beats last year's record by several hundred.
