A Quairading man has been fined $1500 for assaulting his pregnant partner in front of their son while intoxicated.
Cody Ryan Richards pleaded guilty to common assault in circumstances of aggravation on 21 May, 2018 at Northam Magistrates Court.
Richards got into a verbal argument with his partner regarding the amount of alcohol he had consumed on 1 May, 2018.
He became aggressive, hitting a shed door before pushing his partner, who was 16-weeks pregnant at the time.
Richards then left the premises to continue drinking at a friend’s house.
On his return, Richards slapped his partner to the face, causing her nose to bleed.
The couple has a nine-year-old son who saw the altercation.
Richards told the court he did not remember the slap because he was intoxicated at the time of the incident.
His lawyer, Ms Ward, said he was upset and remorseful.
Richards has since sought counselling at Holyoake and said he had hardly had a drink in the past fortnight.
The couple is still together.
Magistrate Mark Millington wished Richards luck in his recovery.
Richards was fined $1500 for the assault.
