In celebration of National Reconciliation Week 2018, the Shire of Northam’s Reconciliation Action Working Group invite all community members to join together as a community strengthened by respectful relationships between the wider community and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
A Community Reconciliation Morning Tea will be hosted on the Village Green on Monday 28 th May 2018 at 10am.
The Morning Tea will include a Welcome to Country from Ballardong Elder Deborah Moody, Flag Raising Ceremony and Shire Presidents Welcome, followed by morning tea incorporating traditional foods.
National Reconciliation Week is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.
“Don’t Keep History A Mystery: Learn. Share. Grow” is the theme for the 2018 celebrations, encouraging us to explore history hidden just beneath the surface, ready and waiting to be uncovered.
