Local Irishtown farmer Rodney Brennan and his son Jason are still celebrating after their partly owned pacer “Our Major Mama” caused an upset win in last Friday’s $150,000 Group 1 WA Oaks at Gloucester Park.
Brilliantly driven by Trainer Justin Prentice, the filly came from well back in the field to score a major upset. It was the longest price recorded at Gloucester Park in a very long time.
The filly started at $139.80 after drawing a bad barrier against a top field.
Rod and Jason along with their family, friends and other syndicate owners where heard screaming with excitement as Our Major Mama found her way through the gap to cross the line by a length over Detroit Lily and Cott Beach.
Our Major Mama will now be set for the Diamond Classic on the 18th May and next seasons Golden Nugget.
