Spencers Brook residents have been notified by the Shire of Northam that a proposal for reopening the quarry under a rehabilitation project has been taken off the agenda until further notice.
The proposal was originally meant to appear in council in April for discussion but was said to have been pushed back until May.
It was only on Friday, five days before it was to appear in council that residents were told it was no longer going to be included.
No explanation is yet to be given.
Residents have been told they will be notified if the matter is to reappear in council in the future.
The proposal spoke of extraction industry development of hard rock material at the site of the pre-existing quarry, to be transported by truck to the metropolitan area via Spencers Brook Road to Clackline.
Those to be affected by the proposal met up at Spencers Brook Tavern for two consecutive Thursdays to share their concerns.
More than 75 people attended the meetings over the two weeks.
The concerns expressed included truck noise, quarry noise, damage to roads, commuter safety, safety to school bus users, safety of trucks pulling out of the quarry, the loss of value to homes, the loss of value of life, bridge weight issues and the safety of farmers moving sheep to other paddocks.
