THE 2018 State All Ability State Championships were played over the weekend of April 7 and 8.
The event was played at the Kardinya Bowling Club with a great turn out of 49 participants across four categories, which were Bowling Arm, Deaf, Intellectual and Physical.
Two of the categories played for selection in state sides for the National Bowling Arm Challenge and the Physical Multibowl Nationals.
The state representative physical disability side playing the Multibowl Nationals run under Disability Sport Australia, being hosted in Western Australia for the first time from May 20 to 25, will be the fifth time Western Australia has been in attendance.
The side will be announced at 4pm on Monday, May 16.
Each state is allowed a side of 10 players – six men and four women – Western Australia was able to select six men and two women.
These games are the classification pathway to international bowling opportunities such as the Commonwealth Games where Australia para-triples have recently accomplished Gold.
Dowerin Bowling Club had an outstanding result, with its humble local champion Wayne Allsopp, winning both the Physical Pairs and the Physical Singles state championships.
Allsopp’s partner in the Physical Pairs division was Frank Fletcher from Obsborne Park, who also claimed silver in Allsopp’s second event of Physical Singles.
Dowerin Bowling Club had an outstanding result, with...Wayne Allsopp, winning both the Pairs and the Singles state championships.
Not only were Allsopp’s results outstanding, but his sportsmanship and fellowship have been universally acknowledged by the organisers and his peers.
We are sure that the community of Dowerin share his pride and everyone will be looking forward to supporting him at the Australian Championships next month.
