DIM, sluggish, slow to start.... either symptom our sponsor Alans Auto Electrics deals with in his business every day ...or an appraisal of the group of golfers assembled last Saturday to contest the stableford trophy .
With the spotlight on last week’s tear away leader Andrew Quin the rest of the field were hoping to get a jump start on him and post a high score by the end of the day.
It was obvious early in the round that Ollie Griffiths had found his spark and was out to an early lead.
With birdies being scarcer than blades of grass, accuracy was the key, Griffiths not disappointing with his chipping and putting being sensational.
Club captain Max Hubble was also having a day out on the course, finding the rhythm that was missing last week to amass a large score.
At the end of the day it was Griffiths with 41 points taking out the trophy and Hubble a close second with 40 points.
Novelty winners: Best third shot No. 3 (money hole) – Les Lee jnr; Best third shot No. 5 – Max Hubble; Nearest the pin No. 12 – Gary Balt; Long chip or putt No. 17 – Don Bates.
Next week’s fixtures:
Wednesday, April 25 Anzac Day / Life members memorial day – mixed (ambrose); Saturday, April 28 par.
