The first female Anglican Archbishop will be making a trip to visit St John’s Anglican Church and Parish Hall in Northam.
The Archbishop of Perth, Kay Goldsworthy will visit the Anglican congregation in Northam on May 6th where she will be preaching and leading communion.
The May 6th visit coincides with the celebration of John the apostle evangelist.
Archbishop Goldsworthy was invited by The Reverend Rose Guok on the off chance she was available to make the journey.
The Reverend said she was surprised the Archbishop agreed to visit the congregation in Northam but said she was looking forward to representing rural WA.
Shire staff and councilors have been invited to the service.
Archbishop Kay Goldsworthy replaced Roger Herft, who retired after admitting he had "let down" abuse survivors in the Diocese of Newcastle, where he had previously served.
She is the first female Anglican Archbishop and was one of the first Anglican women to be ordained in Australia.
Archbishop Goldsworthy will be at St John’s Anglican Church and Parish Hall, 11 Wellington St Northam, on Sunday May 6th from 10am.
